Sagittarius C region of the Milky Way, as revealed by the James Webb Space Telescope’s NIRCam. Approximately 500,000 stars shine in this image, many of these stars have not yet been identified. A cluster of protostars are producing outflows that glow at the base of the large infrared-dark cloud, they are close to emerging from the cloud’s protective cocoon, preparing to join the mature stars surrounding. Smaller infrared-dark clouds dot the scene, masquerading as holes in the starfield.
